from Some Fruits of Solitude

Let us begin where nature begins, go her pace, and end where she ends, and we cannot miss being good naturalists. Creation would no longer be a riddle to us. We would better understand the heavens, the earth, the waters, each with their numerous and varied inhabitants... If we better studied and understood God's creation, this would do a great deal to caution and direct us in our use of it.
--William Penn, Some Fruits of Solitude
