I'm not sure what it is about this lesser known saint-in-waiting that touched my heart today.Maybe it's because she was my age when she died.
Maybe it's because she's yet another Catherine on her way to sainthood, and I have a soft spots for Katherines of all sorts, and today is my Katherine's birthday.
Maybe it's Pope John Paul II's words about Blessed Catherine that stir my heart:
"Among the founders of the Church of Canada in its spiritual springtime can be numbered Marie Catherine, this Augustinian whose hand, as well as her heart, was nothing other than charity."
What a beautiful way to be remembered, and what a thought to keep in mind, especially this Mother's Day Weekend-- that our hands, as well as our hearts, may be nothing other than charity.
