MICHAEL: Mama, can babies sin? Like, if a baby was born and he didn't do anything but he was nursing and he bit you on the milker and then died, would he go to the other place?
ME (inside thinking what the heck?!?!): Um, no. Babies can't sin. They can't make a willful choice not to love and follow God.
MICHAEL: Oh. Well, what age can you sin?
ME: Well, what do you think?
MICHAEL (looking rather meaningfully at his brother Nicholas): I'd say about 4.
ME: Well, traditionally the Church says 7 is the age of reason.
I cannot begin to describe the look of pure disgust and disbelief Michael then gave Nicholas.
