Circle Time: Splish, splash, in the bath

This week's nursery rhyme is "Rub-a-Dub-Dub, Three Men in the Tub" (see sidebar) and so we'll be going on a movement journey through bathtime together in circle.

We start with our nursery rhyme:

Rub-a-dub-dub, three men in the tub,
And who do you think they be?
The butcher, the baker, the candlestick maker.
Turn them out, knaves all three!

It's fun for three little children to try to fit in a box, LOL!
And then...

To the tune of Row, Row, Row Your Boat
Mud, mud, mud galore
Dirt is lots of fun
But you need a nice warm bath when the day is done
Wash, wash, wash yourself until you're nice and clean
From your head down to your toes and all the bits between

Here We Go 'Round the Mulberry Bush is always a good song to sing for rhythms and routines.

This is the way climb the stairs, climb the stairs, climb the stairs,
This is the way we climb the stairs, so early in the evening.

This is the way we take off our clothes... (just pretend!)

This is the way we climb in the tub...

This is the way we splash the water...

This is the way we wash our ____.

Seriously, you can probably sing this song for ten minutes. Or as long as your little ones are interested.

All good things come to an end, and we have to dry off.

After the bath I'll try, try, try
To wipe myself 'til I'm dry, dry, dry
Oh, what a difference it would make, make, make
If I were a dog and could shake, shake, shake!

It's a short one, but around here we have to do things in smallish chunks.
